At MasterCard, we aim to understand, respect and value the differences and similarities of all employees.
“Leveraging our diversity is critical to the long-term health and prosperity of MasterCard Worldwide.”
Robert W. Selander, President and CEO
Today’s winning companies hire the best people they can find—smart, talented people who appreciate and understand unique customer needs; who connect with coworkers and customers; and who see the future in perceptive, innovative ways. At MasterCard, we aim to understand, respect and value the differences and similarities of all employees.
We define diversity from a multidimensional perspective that encompasses our diverse skills, knowledge, viewpoints, culture and national origins. That’s why we are committed to creating a high-performance culture that embraces and leverages our total diversity.
Our goal is to excel at understanding the complex, constantly changing dynamics of the global marketplace and the payment needs of MasterCard customers and their cardholders and merchants. Each employee offers different strengths, views and experiences. These very differences create opportunities for growth, innovation and success.
Ultimately, MasterCard is successful only to the degree to which our employees are successful. Creating an inspiring work environment—one that affords each person the opportunity to contribute fully to the company’s business goals and objectives—is a commitment we are proud of.
Imperative to the success of building and sustaining an inclusive culture, our Global Diversity and Inclusion Council, championed by our CEO, closely tracks the progress of the policies and strategies that support MasterCard’s diversity initiatives.
We are committed to working with a wide range of high quality suppliers and partners from an inclusive pool of diverse resources.
We support diverse community organizations through our philanthropy programs. Employees are encouraged to participate in volunteer activities.
These programs assist the community and the organizations our employees care about. Our Matching Gift Program makes charitable donations equal to those made by our employees.
MasterCard actively promotes a balanced professional and personal life for employees through a broad spectrum of benefits, programs, policies and resources.
MasterCard offers the Adoption Assistance Program, providing financial assistance to help offset the costs associated with the legal adoption process. MasterCard will reimburse eligible employees for eligible adoption expenses up to a maximum of $5,000 per child, as long as you are an active employee at MasterCard when placement takes place.
Recognizing that high-quality, affordable child care options can help employees better balance work and family responsibilities, MasterCard has teamed up with Work/Life Partnerships and Children’s World Learning Centers® and Bright Horizons Family Solutions® Net Work Access Program (NAP) to provide MasterCard U.S. employees with quality and innovative childcare options to help young children reach their full potential.
MasterCard University’s mission is to provide a “gold standard” of excellence in learning products, options and solutions in support of MasterCard Worldwide’s leadership vision. Our training philosophy revolves around 3 key concepts:
At MasterCard, we realize that, to attract and retain highly skilled people who will meet the professional demands of our customers, our business and our ever-changing marketplace, we must provide a workplace that allows flexibility for employees to balance their work demands with personal responsibilities.
To encourage and support the generosity of employees worldwide, the Program provides company matching funds to the charitable organizations employees personally support. To maximize the impact of employee charitable giving, MasterCard matches, dollar for dollar, individual donations made by eligible employees and retirees, up to US$5,000 per year, to the nonprofit groups or educational institutions of their choice.
The MasterCard Scholarship Program is designed to encourage and recognize academic excellence and to assist employees of MasterCard in meeting the cost of their children’s undergraduate college education. Each year, the MasterCard Scholarship Program awards a one-time scholarship of US$5,000 to 10 eligible children.
