Two Innovations Reduce Frustration through Payment Optimization
In addition to the MasterCard RPPS Electronic Payments Maximizer Service, MasterCard RPPS recently introduced two new tools that can help customers optimize their electronic payments capabilities: the Stop-File Service and the gross-to-net capability.
The Stop-File Service, a module of MasterCard RPPS Account Conversion Technology, enables customers to give us a stop-file list, identifying accounts for which they do not wish to accept electronic payments. This automated service can reduce manual processing and returns and their associated costs.
“We maintain that information, and anytime a payment comes through for one of those accounts, we return it to the bill-payment originator with a stop code, so it knows the payment has been stopped at the biller’s request,” says Darlene Lohman, product leader, MasterCard RPPS.
The gross-to-net capability allows credit counseling agencies to send gross payments to all net billers, regardless of whether the creditor has designated a fair-share amount for the agency.
“This will allow agencies and creditors to more easily send and receive electronic payments on accounts with varying fair-share amounts through MasterCard RPPS,” says Derek Reed, business leader, MasterCard RPPS.
“As with the Electronic Payments Maximizer, these changes help our customers optimize the speed, power, and security of the MasterCard RPPS network for their businesses,” says Lohman.
