Every institution that enrolls as a MasterCard RPPS® customer wants to get up and running quickly and cost-effectively. The MasterCard RPPS Implementation Team delivers the expertise and the procedures to help new participants accomplish exactly that, so they can begin reaping the benefits of our powerful electronic solutions.
“MasterCard RPPS recognizes the importance of accurate customer setup,
and we've created a dedicated and highly experienced team to help ensure that every aspect of the process—from filling out forms to connectivity testing—is accomplished as smoothly and efficiently as possible,” says Beth Bitetto, who heads the team. “This not only helps ensure the
timely and effective delivery of services to our customers, but also lays the foundation for a positive relationship going forward.”
The team's sphere of responsibility breaks out into two parts. First, it supports new customers joining the network, and existing customers that are adding a new business line. Second, the team develops the implementation process for new MasterCard RPPS business lines, such as B2B payments and value-loading for prepaid cards. It does the same for enhancements to existing services, such as the recent upgrades to the debt management proposal [DMP] file format.
Comprehensive approach
Located in both the Purchase, New York, and O'Fallon, Missouri, offices, the team offers deep, cross-functional expertise to handle every element of the
implementation process.
”Contract negotiations, customer education on our network, needs assessment, connectivity, testing, overall project management—our team covers it all,“ says Bitetto. ”To help ensure customer satisfaction, we dedicate two team members to work with the customer throughout the entire process, covering both the business and technical sides of implementation.“
Each implementation usually begins with a kickoff meeting, either in person or via telephone, that includes the implementation specialists and the customer. ”We provide an overview of our processing and the setup procedure,“ says Bitetto, ”and we develop an implementation plan that outlines how we'll move forward from that point.
”We also provide user-friendly online tools that help customers organize and
deliver the information needed to get the process started. Last year, we implemented automated online forms that greatly streamlined the setup process,“ Bitetto adds.

The MasterCard RPPS Implementation Team addresses technical details with a customer's operational staff—an important first step as it sets the tone for a successful working relationship.
”We want to make them feel confident and comfortable with us and the process right from the start,“ says Bitetto.
”They expect us to be the industry experts, and we're ready to oblige,“ she adds. ”We want to help them fully integrate their system with ours so they can better meet their business needs and those of their customers.“
Recent MasterCard RPPS customer satisfaction surveys on the implementation
process give the team high marks. Respondents unanimously indicated topbox
satisfaction with the team's expertise, responsiveness, and courtesy, and near-unanimous satisfaction (”very satisfied“ and ”satisfied“) on all other team attributes. The team also earned 100% satisfaction for the overall testing and implementation process.
Enhancing the experience
Whenever MasterCard RPPS develops an enhancement to an existing service,
such as the 2004 DMP enhancement, the Implementation Team is charged with the
task of facilitating an orderly transition.
”We work with existing customers to make sure everything functions smoothly with their systems,“ says Bitetto. ”With the DMP enhancement—a new file format that will deliver unprecedented functionality—we've worked out a systematic procedure for retesting with every affected customer.
